Elijah Moore’s career with the New York Jets never quite lived up to expectations.

He entered the league with a lot of hype and actually put together a decent rookie season.

Heading into his 2nd year in the league, Moore was one of the NFL’s top breakout candidates.

The season ended up being a disaster.

Thanks in large part to the awful play of the Jets’ quarterbacks, Moore was actually worse in year 2.

In weeks 5 and 6 of the season, Moore made 1 combined catch. He then requested that he be traded by the Jets.

He sat out for a week after the request, but didn’t end up getting his trade. Things didn’t get much better after his return as he got just 1 target the following two weeks and only made more than 2 catches twice the rest of the year.

After the season ended, Moore finally got his wish and the Jets traded him to the Cleveland Browns.

With Garrett Wilson establishing himself as the team’s top option and Allen Lazard joining the squad, it seemed like a good outcome for both sides.

It seems one website in New Jersey hasn’t quite gotten over Moore leaving, though.

Today, NJ.com published an article talking about Moore with the headline, “Ex-Jets crybaby who quit on them is training-camp star with new team.”

Calling Moore a “crybaby” for wanting to leave the Jets is just an inaccurate depiction of what happened.

Moore had to deal with abysmal quarterback play for the first 2 years of his NFL career and the offensive scheme didn’t help utilize him.

He also was pretty reasonable about how he handled last season. When he didn’t get his trade, he returned to the lineup and continued trying to help the Jets win.

Now the Jets have replaced him and he’s impressing during his first offseason with a new team.

Elijah Moore being traded worked out well for him and the New York Jets. It’s time to move on.
