The 2024 NFL Draft is just hours away, meaning all of the NFL’s front offices are in the midst of intense strategizing and negotiating.

Given the number of quarterbacks that are expected to be a Top 10 pick, this year’s NFL Draft is predicted to be far more eventual than the average draft.

And according to Bleacher Report, the New York Giants may be the franchise that ignites draft day chaos as they are reportedly trying to trade up to the #3 selection, currently owned by the New England Patriots, in order to select University of North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.

“The Giants have been trying to trade up to No. 3 with the Patriots, with the belief being they want UNC QB Drake Maye, according to multiple league sources. The prevailing belief is it’s a long shot to happen — but New England is listening to all calls,” according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.

If the Giants do not pull off a trade, they’ll have the #6 overall pick in the draft, which might put them out of the range of quarterback prospects such as Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and JJ McCarthy.

In addition to the Bears selecting USC signal-caller Caleb Williams with the #1 overall pick, the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots, who own the #2 and #3 picks, respectively, are also predicted to take quarterbacks.

If the Bears, Commanders, and Patriots do select QBs with the draft’s first three picks, it’ll still given the Giants a chance to land one of the draft’s top four quarterback prospects as long as the Arizona Cardinals at #4 and the Los Angeles Chargers at #5 go in a different direction.

Should the Giants miss out on a quarterback at #6, additional QB prospects in this year’s draft are Michael Penix Jr. from the University of Washington and Bo Nix out of Oregon. Penix is expected to be a late first or early second-round pick, so if the Giants want him, they’ll likely have to trade back into the end of the first round to get him.
