Despite heading into Week 7 as an underdog for the 3rd consecutive week, the New York Giants were able to leave Jacksonville with yet another win.

The win pushed them to 6-1 to start the season and came thanks to yet another strong performance from the defense that saw them force a key fumble near the goal-line, stop the Jags on a 4th down late in the game, and stop the Jags just short of the endzone with time expiring.

One group that wasn’t particularly responsible for the Giants win was once again their receivers. Darius Slayton had a big first drive, catching 2 passes for 44 yards and a touchdown, but didn’t do much after that.

Wan’Dale Robinson stepped up this week, making 6 catches for 50 yards as the rookie finds his role in the offense. The rest of the team’s wide receivers combined for 2 catches for 21 yards.

It’s been a unit that has needed help all season and that became even more of a need when the Giants traded Kadarius Toney.

It’s an issue I’ve discussed before that the Giants need to address before the trade deadline if they are serious about trying to make a run in the playoffs.

According to a report from Fox Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano, the Giants are looking for ways to address the problem and they are particularly interested in Jerry Jeudy.

New York Giants are particularly interested in a trade for Jerry Jeudy

According to multiple league sources, receivers like Denver’s Jerry Jeudy, Houston’s Brandin Cooks and Carolina’s D.J. Moore could all be available. And the Giants have a particular interest in the 6-foot-1, 193-pound Jeudy, one league source said. Jeudy’s even something of a known commodity to them since he was a freshman at Alabama in 2017 when Daboll was the offensive coordinator there.

I still believe Brandin Cooks is the best fit for a Giants trade as he is an aging asset that the Giants could add without sacrificing too much draft capital for next season and he’s a proven commodity.

Cooks has topped 1000 yards in 6 of the last 7 seasons. Meanwhile, Jerry Jeudy’s career best was 856 yards as a rookie. Last season he only had 467 yards and didn’t score a touchdown in 10 games. This season, he has posted 386 yards and 2 touchdowns in 7 games.

I understand why the Giants would want the younger option with a young roster that is continuing to improve, but if the goal is to compete right now, then they should be going after the dependable Cooks and then focusing on the future during the offseason.
