Another name has been added to the list of prospective head coaches for the New York Giants. The team announced on Sunday that it had completed its interview with Lou Anarumo, who currently serves as the defensive coordinator in Cincinnati.

However, when listing his experience on the team’s official announcement, they included a bullet point that is very irrelevant. It couldn’t have been more perfectly New York.

Anarumo, 55, served as the Giants’ defensive backs coach in 2018 before being hired by the Bengals in 2019. Prior to his first stint in New York, he worked his way up through the college ranks and broke into the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.

This year, as the Bengals head to the AFC Championship, marks Anarumo’s 10th season in the NFL. His defense is in the upper half of most defensive categories this season and held Tennessee to only 16 points in the Divisional Round on Saturday.

Anarumo is the third coach that the Giants have interviewed this year. They have also talked with both Buffalo Bills coordinators, Brian Daboll and Leslie Frezier. Interviews are also expected with Dan Quinn, Patrick Graham and Brian Flores.

None of the other five, however, have Anarumo’s experience. Well, kind of. Not really.

New York’s official twitter account tweeted out a graphic on Sunday afternoon declaring that the organization had finished interviewing Anarumo. On the graphic, it listed his experience.

Most of it made perfect sense and illuminated his qualifications. Except one.

The last bullet point stated that Anarumo is a native of Staten Island. That, obviously, has nothing to do with his experience, but it couldn’t be funnier.

It’s almost as if the team was trying to get its fanbase excited about the hire because he is one of them. He, like so many other Giants fans, is from the forgotten borough. He is New York.

They basically said:

*extreme Staten Island accent*

“Ayyyyyooo! We interviewed Louie from the South Shore! He folds his pizza just like you. He eats the cannolis with the little chocolate chips just like you. We may not hire him, but we interviewed one of you. Please, please like us again?!”

Naturally, Twitter had a field day with the bullet point.
