The New York Islanders have revealed the eight finalists in the team’s fan-designed third jersey contest. A bracket-style fan vote will determine the winner of the contest, which received 80,490 entries.

Several current and former New York Islanders players had a say in the jersey choices. According to Kelly Cheeseman, president of business operations for the Islanders and UBS Arena, Matthew Schaefer, Bo Horvat, Kyle Palmieri, Ondrej Palat, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Ryan Pulock, Mathew Barzal, Alexander Romanov, Bryan Trottier, Matt Martin and several other alumni reached out to share their thoughts.

Fan voting for the third jersey began on Wednesday

After nearly a month of deliberation, voting in the head-to-head bracket format for the first round started on Wednesday at noon ET and ends on Friday at 5 p.m. ET. The second round runs August 15–17, and the final round runs August 18–20. The winner will be revealed in late August, and the winning third jersey will be worn by the New York Islanders during the 2027–2028 season.

“Islanders fans have once again blown us away with their incredible creativity and the sheer volume of participation,” Cheeseman said in a press release. “Both the passion of our fans and their overwhelming support throughout this contest have been extraordinary. From over 80,000 submissions down to our final bracket of eight, every step of this journey proves just how deeply invested Isles Nation is in the identity of this franchise.”

Cheeseman also told the New York Post that the lighthouse was the most popular logo choice in the competition, appearing as the main crest in 26% of the fan-designed jersey submissions. Twenty-one percent of submissions were traditional Islanders blue, and another 19% were mixtures of navy and orange.

The New York Islanders have not used a third jersey since 2024, and Cheeseman already knows which one he wants to win.

“I would love to see an orange,” he said. “I think that’s a great brand addition.”
