New York Jets fans were surprised by the lack of Tennessee Titans fans on Lower Broadway in Nashville. They claimed a complete takeover of Music City prior to the final first game of the new NFL season at the (soon-to-be) old Nissan Stadium.

However, they failed to understand that locals do not choose to go downtown on the weekend.

Don’t get me wrong, I am thoroughly impressed by the amount of visiting NFL fans who traveled from New Jersey to Tennessee to watch a team that has not made the playoffs in more than 15 years. It still does not qualify as a takeover.

New York Jets fans completely took over Lower Broadway in Nashville.

The New York Jets will begin the 2026 NFL season against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium on Sunday. Their fanbase traveled extremely well. Gang Green started to arrive on Thursday. They completely took over Lower Broadway.

This was the scene on Friday night:

Jets fans were in the majority.

That trend continued on Saturday.

Every bar on Broadway was packed full of visitors.

It was all Jets everywhere.

You could not get within earshot of downtown without hearing “J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!”

Fireman Ed had his people ready to go.

They were everywhere.

The New York faithful claimed a “complete takeover” of Nashville.

The party got started early on Sunday morning.

You could not escape the green and white if you tried.

Where was everybody else? Great question. It is important to understand the dynamics of Music City.

Tennessee Titans fans were doing… anything else.

When you think of Nashville, you probably think of ‘Honky Tonk Highway,’ the famous stretch of live music venues on Lower Broadway between First Avenue and Fifth Avenue. Almost every bar on the main drag is named after and/or owned by a country music artist.

Alan Jackson has a bar. Miranda Lambert has a bar. Morgan Wallen has a bar. Lainey Wilson has a bar. Kid Rock has a bar. Even Post Malone has a bar. The list goes on.

And now it is expanding beyond country music! Kygo recently opened a night club. Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre opened a cocktail lounge. DraftKings opened a sportsbook. Taco Bell opened a cantina.

A street that used to be lined with sawdust floors and $2 beers has become a tourist hub that more closely resembles a mix of The Strip in Las Vegas and Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Drinks are more expensive, bartenders are often rude, it lacks character.

With that in mind, locals do not go to Lower Broadway unless there is a specific reason. You will rarely find us there on a Saturday.

Jets fans should be proud of the showing in Nashville! They should not claim a “takeover” of Broadway because there is nothing to take over. Titans fans were also at the bar. Just not downtown.

Visitors from New York spent Sunday morning at the bars. Locals began the morning at church and/or had their own tailgate away from Broadway.

Even if there is a large amount of green in the crowd come kickoff at Nissan Stadium, there are levels to this. Nobody cares how many Jets fans were on Broadway on a Saturday afternoon.
