The New York Jets are going to be a very different team in 2023.

They have already replaced their offensive coordinator and hired a new quarterbacks coach.

Next they’ll be looking to bring in a new quarterback who can improve the offense after a brutal year that saw them rotate between Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, and Mike White at the position.

The expectation has been that the Jets would pursue Aaron Rodgers to fix their quarterback situation, especially after they hired Nathaniel Hackett to be their next offensive coordinator, a job he held with the Green Bay Packers for a few years where he had the chance to work with Rodgers.

However, their new quarterbacks coach also has ties to a couple of other quarterbacks the Jets could pursue. Todd Downing worked with Derek Carr as a QB coach and offensive coordinator with the Raiders and was most recently the OC for the Titans, where he coached Ryan Tannehill.

Rodgers, Carr, and Jimmy Garoppolo have been the 3 names getting the most attention as potential options for the Jets, but it seems that Tannehill is also in the mix for the Jets.

According to SNY’s Conor Hughes, the Jets are much higher on Tannehill than some want to believe.

Ending up with Tannehill after there has been so much speculation about the Jets landing Rodgers would certainly be a letdown for fans, but he could still be an option that gets the Jets to the playoffs.

We know he is comfortable in a run-first offense after years of Derrick Henry being the star of the Titans offense. He has also helped the Titans reach the AFC Championship Game during his time with the team.

However, Ryan Tannehill is the 2nd oldest option and potentially the 2nd most expensive.

The New York Jets are certainly going to do their due diligence on every available option at QB, but it just seems like the Jets have better options for their next quarterback.
