NFL Analyst Ross Tucker Throws Shade At Odell Beckham Jr. Over Miami Dolphins Move

The Miami Dolphins recently signed superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year, $3 million contract to add to their already explosive offense.

But one former NFL vet turned analyst says the deal isn’t even worth discussing.

Former journeyman guard Ross Tucker says that Beckham Jr.’s best days are well behind him, and that the signing doesn’t move the needle.

“Odell Beckham Jr. is like a credible case study in the power of getting off to a really fast start, or becoming really popular on social media,” Tucker began. “Like, it is insane that he got $15 million fully guaranteed last year. It’s wild that he signed with the Dolphins and it’s still big news that everybody is posting about.

“Do you realize it’s been since 2016 since he had 1,100 yards in a season, or caught 80 passes, or had more than six touchdown catches? That’s like when Drake Maye and Caleb Williams were like 14 years old. It’s been a long time. And yet people still (say) ‘ODELL BECKHAM JR. SIGNED WITH THE RAVENS AND LAMAR LAST YEAR. ODELL BECKHAM JR. SIGNED WITH THE DOLPHINS.’

“When’s the last time it’s actually mattered or meant anything who Odell Beckham Jr. signed with.”

Now, the numbers back up Tucker.

Beckham caught just 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns last season despite his massive contract. He hasn’t make made a Pro Bowl since 2016.

But it’s still surprising to hear any analyst, even more so a former player, be so critical of a current player.

And not everyone agreed with Tucker’s view of things.

Beckham Jr. isn’t what he once was. He likely doesn’t change much for the Dolphins. But he could still be a useful weapon on an already dangerous offense. And that alone is worth people discussing his move to sign in Miami.
