In sports gambling news, the NFL and NFLPA agreed to drop the hammer on players who would like to try their luck on NFL games.

The new rules, as part of the league’s stricter anti-sports gambling policy, have been announced with some notable changes.

If a player is caught betting on a game that involves their own team, brace yourselves – it’s an indefinite suspension that lasts at least two years. Not exactly worth the game..

But here’s a twist: if players decide to to bet on other sports while they’re hanging out at their team’s facilities, the league seems to be a bit more forgiving. It’s like they’re saying, “As long as it’s not our game, we’ll go a bit easier on you.”

So players such as Lions WR Jameson Williams and Titans OL Nicholas Petit-Frere, who got slapped with a six-game suspension for betting on non-NFL sports while on the clock, got some good news – they’ll be back in action a week from now, Week 5.

And for those who might still be tempted to place a wager on something other than the NFL from the workplace, here’s the breakdown of what you can expect if you get caught:

Strike one – Two-game suspension without pay.
Strike two – Six-game suspension without pay.
Strike three – A year long suspension without pay.

Players better think twice before they decide to roll the dice on betting while in the league.
