Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay had a lot of Rams fans worried that he would retire if and when LA won the Super Bowl. There were rumors that he was going to retire after winning because he is set to get married this summer and wants to focus on building a family. McVay himself did nothing to quell those rumors as they built momentum by the minute.

I didn’t have a chance to watch the entire Rams Super Bowl parade and on-stage celebration that followed but ESPN mentioned that Sean McVay talked about ‘running it back’. So that’s Part 1 of the McVay retirement rumors getting shut down. Interestingly, Aaron Donald said the same. When AD got the mic (before going to see LeBron and the Lakers play), he said “we built a superteam, we can bring the superteam back, why not run it back? We can be world champs again!”

Later in the night, Sean McVay’s fiancée Veronika Khomyn shared a message that “He is NOT retiring!!!” to her IG Story and NFL fans went wild with the news.

I can empathize with someone thinking Sean McVay gets too much attention at such a young age but ‘most overrated’ ever? He’s 36 years old and has already won a Super Bowl after being a head coach for four years, he’s the youngest to ever win a Super Bowl, and he holds a .681 record as a coach. That’s not overrated.

Seriously, he’s not overrated. Over-discussed or over-exposed, sure. But not overrated…

Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams have some hurdles to jump before they can run it back. They are projected at $8 million over the NFL’s Salary Cap going into the offseason. The Rams won’t have a single NFL Draft Pick in the top 100. And they need to figure out how to re-sign free agents Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. if they want to keep the team intact.
