Las Vegas is set to host Super Bowl 58 on Sunday night.

It’s the first time the Sin City has hosted the NFL’s premier event, and that comes with some dangers that inherently come with Las Vegas.

Now, usually that applies to raucous night life. But it also, apparently, includes potentially being bit by coyotes…

Yes, you read that right.

According to Las Vegas locally, a reputable Twitter account that tracks goings on around the city, an NFL player in town for the big game was attacked by a coyote on Sunday night at Lake Las Vegas.

Coyote Bite On NFL Player Comes As Attacks Are On The Rise In Las Vegas

FOX 5 in Las Vegas reports that coyote attacks in the area have been on the rise in recent months. The Nevada Department of Wildlife even issued a statement on the matter.

“For people that frequent that area or live up there, or even people that don’t frequent that area and just go up there for lunch or dinner or something and they sit out, they have no idea. They might just be nicely viewing, thinking they’re viewing the wildlife and it just walks right up to them which was one of the incidents of one of the bites. The person really had no idea the coyote was going to approach them and be that close that quickly,” said Henderson Animal Control Administrator Danielle Harney.

Harney also warns visitors not to feed the animals.

“These are wild animals. When they’re used to getting fed and not getting what they want they will bite people,” she said.

We repeat: do NOT feed the large dogs.

The Las Vegas Locally report did not name the player. It also did not state the severity of the attack. But one can imagine it wasn’t all that fun.
