NFL+ had technical difficulties on Week 1.
The NFL season got underway earlier this week, but the true start to the year came on Sunday. There were 13 games scheduled, eight of which kicked off at 1 PM ET.
NFL+ subscribers were not able to watch those games get started. Technical difficulties caused temporary blackouts on opening weekend.

NFL+ subscribers demand refunds.
The streaming platform, which costs $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year, includes NFL Network, live game audio, out-of-market preseason games and live local and primetime regular-season and playoff games on phones and tablets.
Subscribers can upgrade to NFL+ Premium for $14.99 per month or $99.99 per season, which includes everything in the basic plan along with NFL RedZone, NFL Pro and full, condensed and All-22 game replays.
On Sunday of Week 1, the app wasn’t working. The site acknowledged the issues, which started right around 1 PM.
The technical difficulties appeared to be resolved about an hour later. By then, most fans had not only missed kickoff, but the majority the first halves of the 1 PM games.

Viewers missed a controversially overturned Detroit Lions fumble, a season opening interception from Deshaun Watson, and Josh Allen’s first score of the season. A lot of action went unwatched!
As a result, unhappy subscribers flooded social media to voice their displeasure.

“Thanks for nothing,” one fan wrote on X amid the blackouts. His feelings were echoed by a number of others.
There also appeared to be issues with RedZone and Sunday ticket, though the NFL+ app was the only problem publicly refenced. RedZone is included in the Premium package.

Many demanded refunds.
I heard @NFLPlus was going to refund everyone 1 month of their subscription cost because no one can stream the week 1 games on NFL Plus or watch Redzone.

There’s been no confirmation that NFL+ will refund its subscribers or offer a prorated rate. We’ll see if that changes given the backlash.
