An NFL social media account recently ranked the league’s starting QBs by their performance as high school seniors. The man at the top of the list might surprise.

The account went through each of the NFL’s current starting passers showing how many touchdowns were scored in their final season before moving onto the college ranks.

On the list are Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, and Josh Allen. While all have developed into stars at the professional level, none landed the honor of No. 1.

The series is broken into four TikTok posts, starting with Nos. 32-25.

That initial list begins with Giants’ QB Tommy DeVito, who threw 16 touchdowns as a high school senior. From there, we see a pair of Heisman winners, a national champion, and an NFL MVP.

As the series continues into Part 2, there are more surprises.

Nos. 24-17 present us with names like Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, and Tua Tagovailoa. Again, despite massive NFL success, they rank in the bottom half of the league based on this particular criteria.

This group includes one Heisman winner and five (!) first round draft picks.

We see two top overall NFL draft picks in Trevor Lawrence and Matthew Stafford. There’s also ’23 first-round pick CJ Stroud, who’s seeing some major rookie success with the Texans, and No. 6 overall pick in ’20, Justin Herbert.

As for Josh Dobbs, who came in at No. 16 on the list, it looks like his time under center has come to an end. The Minnesota Vikings have announced that Nick Mullens will take over for their matchup against Cincinnati.

And now, the top eight!

Drumroll, please…

Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, and MVP candidate Brock Purdy made the top eight, as did a pair of Heisman winners in Bryce Young and Kyler Murray, but none could top Jake Browning.

The passer threw 91 (!) touchdowns and ran for five more to total 96 scores in his senior season. The post notes that he broke multiple national high school passing marks before going on to play for Washington.

Browning has been thrust into a starting role with the Bengals due to an injury to Joe Burrow. Cincinnati is 2-1 in his three starts.
