With the New York Jets set to report to training camp this week, Aaron Rodgers’ career with the franchise will begin in earnest.

After being acquired by the team in late April, Rodgers has spent recent months soaking in all that comes with being a professional athlete in the world’s biggest city and has obviously been loving every minute of it.  But now that football is about to start being played, Rodgers’ honeymoon with the franchise will be ending and the real marriage is set to begin.

While Rodgers is undoubtedly going to be the best quarterback that the Jets have employed in decades — if not in the entire history of the franchise — there are some within the NFL that don’t seem to be all the smitten with the future Hall of Famer.

Speaking to ESPN‘s Jeremy Fowler for an article that ranked the Top 10 quarterbacks in the league, one AFC scout proclaimed that NFL insiders are “afraid” to admit that Rodgers isn’t the same player he used to be.

“I think everyone is afraid to say he’s declined a little. He’s still a great thrower and sees it really well, but he’s more like [ranked] eight to 12 for me,” the scout said.

Ultimately, Rodgers was up fourth on the list of the best quarterbacks in the league compiled by Fowler, behind only Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen.

Regardless of what level Rodgers plays at this season, it will undoubtedly be an improvement over what the Jets had last year in the trio of Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, and Mike White.

Oddsmakers are certainly expecting Rodgers to have a massive impact on Gang Green, as the team is not only expected to make the playoffs for the first time in over a decade but is expected to contend for a Super Bowl.

With NFL teams set to begin training camp in the coming days and weeks, the Jets currently find themselves with the seventh-shortest odds to win this season’s Super Bowl, which trails only the Chiefs, Eagles, Bills, 49ers, Bengals, and Cowboys.
