TCU’s football team came so close to heading into the postseason with a their undefeated record still intact.

As they have done so many times before this season, the Horned Frogs faced a deficit in the 2nd half against Kansas State. They fought back from an 11 point deficit in the 4th quarter to force overtime.

Then they made some baffling decisions in OT. TCU started overtime with the ball after losing the toss and wasted little time putting themselves in position to score. Their first play was a 15-yard run that got them down to the 10.

On 2nd and goal, quarterback Max Duggan tried to once again put the team on his back after doing so all game. He ran the ball down to inside the half-yard line.

Then TCU proceeded to hand the ball off from there on both 3rd and 4th down. Both plays were unsuccessful and Kansas State would go on to kick a field goal to win the game.

Afterwards, Arizona Cardinals star JJ Watt called out the Horned Frogs’ play calling at the goal line.

It was certainly a surprise to see the approach TCU took at the goal line. Giving Duggan a couple of shots at sneaking it up the middle seemed like it would be an easier way to punch in a score to take the lead.

It was a strange choice to take the game completely out of Duggan’s hands after he had dragged them back into the game in the 4th quarter.

With their decision not panning out, they’ll now have to sweat out selection Sunday.
