The game, which will be available on Meta Quest and Sony’s PlayStation VR headsets, will let gamers “play like a professional football player through a first-person 3D immersive experience.”

Details about the NFL’s VR game remain scarce

Outside of some official statements from the involved parties, details about the project are quite scarce.

“Virtual reality gaming is rapidly expanding, and our partnership with StatusPro allows us to explore a new immersive version of NFL gaming with support of the two largest VR platforms within this emerging space,” Joe Ruggiero, the NFL’s SVP of consumer products, said in a statement.

“We are grateful to the NFL and our community of investors and stakeholders who share our vision to create an entirely new standard in sports and gaming,” Hawkins said.

StatusPro has some high-profile celebrity investors

StatusPro has some high-profile investors such as LeBron James, Jimmy Iovine, Drake, Naomi Osaka, Lamar Jackson, Maverick Carter, and more. At this time, the NFL’s VR game does not have an official release date.

For more information about StatusPro –who are the developers of Pre-Game Prep, “a tool that uses real-time player data to help players simulate any game scenario, which is now being used by several NFL teams,” according to Variety — you can check out their website.

It’s certainly an exciting time for fans of football video games, as EA Sports is also set to revive the NCAA Football franchise in the coming years.
