The NHL and Fanatics unveiled 32 new uniforms on Monday as part of a league-wide initiative called Hometown Remix, and some of the designs are unlike anything hockey fans have seen before.

Every NHL team received a new jersey featuring colors, logos and other details inspired by its home city. Some teams made relatively subtle changes to their uniforms. Others got a little more creative.

According to the NHL, the uniforms will be worn during 261 games this season, including 19 in which both teams will wear their Hometown Remix jerseys.

The Florida Panthers, Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks will be the first teams to wear theirs during games Monday night.

NHL’s New Hometown Remix Jerseys Feature Some Very Interesting Designs

Among the more unusual designs is the Anaheim Ducks‘ Hometown Remix jersey, which features green, yellow and purple, along with a Flying V on the sleeve inspired by The Mighty Ducks movie.

The Vegas Golden Knights incorporated jade, a color inspired by casino felt, and roulette wheels on the sleeves. Their jersey numbers also resemble playing cards.

The Carolina Hurricanes put their mascot, Stormy, on the front of their Hometown Remix jersey, while the Florida Panthers incorporated coral, orange and yellow to represent a South Florida sunrise.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks went with a lighter shade of teal called scuba blue and added shark teeth around the sleeves and socks.

The Chicago Blackhawks made green their primary jersey color instead of red, while the Boston Bruins introduced a brown, college-inspired design.

Other NHL teams incorporated smaller details that might not be immediately noticeable.

The Philadelphia Flyers included a Liberty Bell theme, complete with cracks in the numbers. The Washington Capitals used marble-inspired patterns to represent the monuments in Washington, D.C.

The Minnesota Wild incorporated constellations into their numbers, while the Winnipeg Jets drew inspiration from the northern lights.

All 32 NHL Teams Will Wear Their New Jerseys This Season

The new Hometown Remix collection follows the NHL’s popular Reverse Retro jersey programs from 2020 and 2022. Unlike those uniforms, which largely reimagined designs from the teams’ pasts, the new collection focuses on local culture and landmarks.

Fanatics worked with each team to develop the designs over approximately two years. For example, the New York Islanders’ jersey includes lighthouse logos with hidden references to Long Island and New York.

Earlier this year, the Islanders sparked discussion about alternate uniforms after revealing the finalists in a fan-designed jersey contest.

Fans can check out all 32 new uniforms to see which teams got the best designs and which ones might have been better off sticking with their traditional jerseys.
