Arizona’s Nick Ahmed had the hit of the day on Tuesday in a matchup versus the Cardinals. The Diamondbacks shortstop drove in a pair of runs on a double in the fourth inning.

That impressive shot came on a very difficult pitch to hit. MLB fans are now reacting to the viral double as they post responses of astonishment.

Ahmed stepped up to the dish with the bases loaded and the game tied at two.

He received a 2-2 delivery from St. Louis starter Jordan Montgomery which actually bounced before reaching home plate. Despite the low target, Ahmed swung the bat and successfully slapped the pitch into left field.

He’d then race around first base before pulling into second with an RBI double.

Vladimir Guerrero-esque.

The unreal hit quickly went viral on social media.

Fans began posting responses to the clip, with most being amazed that he was not only able to make contact but get extra bases.

One person asked, “How did he hit that??” Someone else said, “Sometimes a hitter does something so beautiful that stats can’t measure it.”

Even Ahmed, himself, chimed in on the ridiculous feat, insisting that he might have a future in cricket.

The double would be the shortstop’s only hit of the day, though his two RBIs helped the Diamondbacks escape with an 8-7 victory.

With the win, Arizona moved to 11-7 on the season while Nick Ahmed added to his .316 batting average.
