Adam Webber resigned as football coach at Bradford Prep.
Bradford Prep in Charlotte, North Carolina was without its head football coach during the season opener last Friday. Adam Webber was asked to resign on game week.
His exit comes under mysterious circumstances. No legitimate reasoning has been provided for the ouster.
Webber was set to make his debut with the program in its first ever high school football game last week. He was notably absent from the sidelines for that contest, which the Bears lost 32-22.

The head coach was hired this offseason after a stint as defensive coordinator at nearby Independence High. Bradford Prep has never fielded a varsity high school football team.
The Charlotte area charter school is located just outside the city center in the suburbs to the northeast. Bradford Prep is slated to compete at the 2A level this fall.

After prepping his team for the 2026 season throughout the summer, he had the rug pulled out from under him.

The Charlotte Observer reached out to administration for clarity. None was given.
North Carolina high school football coach forced to leave.
Webber told The Observer Tuesday that he was asked to resign by school administrators last week, before Bradford Prep’s first game against Thomas Jefferson.
The outlet reached out to athletic director Graham Haley for comment. His response did little to clear the air.
According to The Observer, Haley would not give a legitimate reason for the resignation. He did confirm that Webber was no longer employed as head football coach, referring to the move as a “personnel matter.”
Did Webber violate the school’s code of conduct? Is administration unable to speak on the situation, or simply unwilling? Haley alluded to the former.
The lack of transparency has produced more questions than answers. Regardless, the football team will be without Adam Webber moving forward. There are no other staff changes to report, which only adds to the mystery behind the resignation.
That ominous feel trickled into gameday.
Bradford Prep started its first game of the year on Friday against Thomas Jefferson Classical. That contest was postponed due to bad weather.
It was later continued on Monday, with the Bears losing their high school football debut. They’ll be back on the field in Week 2 vs. Highland Tech. Jeremy Chandler will lead the program in an interim role.
