Oklahoma State University has indefinite bragging rights over the University of Oklahoma after winning Saturday’s final college football game between the two schools for the foreseeable future on Saturday. Bedlam came to an epic conclusion.

The annual rivalry game, which pits the two in-state schools against one another, was first played in 1904. It will not continue past this season, and there is no clear indication as to when it might be played again.

As a result, the Cowboys made sure to remind the Sooners that they are never, ever, ever getting back together. They played Taylor Swift‘s smash hit and ‘Happy Trails To You’ by Roy Rogers as their fans stormed the field following a three-point win.

Their song selection was an homage to the rivalry, which is dead.

Oklahoma leads the all-time series by a large margin. The Sooners have won 91 games. The Cowboys have won 20. They have tied seven times.

Although Oklahoma State has not won a lot, Mike Gundy’s program won when it mattered most — last.

Typically, the victorious team can brag about their win for 365 days. Even if the winning side’s basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, softball, and golf teams lose, the fans can point to the gridiron.

Now, with Oklahoma leaving for the SEC, the victorious Cowboys will be able to brag for the indefinite future. It was a win that will hang over the entire state until they next meet again, which could take as many as 10+ years.

To make it even sweeter, Oklahoma State stormed the field and tore down the goalposts. The scenes in Stillwater were epic.

The song choice was the icing on top of the cake. Whomever it was on the Cowboys staff that had both farewell songs ready to go deserves his/her flowers because it could not have been better executed!
