When four-star defensive lineman Tywone Malone committed to play college football at Ole Miss in 2021, it came with an interesting caveat. Not only would he suit up for Lane Kiffin on the gridiron, but he was also committing to play baseball for the Rebels.

At 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, Malone is an absolute monster. Not only does he live in the nightmares of opposing quarterbacks, but he also keeps opposing pitchers up at night.

Malone suffered a knee injury during his high school senior season, so Ole Miss took it slow with the 11th-ranked defensive line prospect in 2021. He played in only one game, but even during his limited snaps, he showed what he can do.

Now that football season is over, Malone’s focus is entirely on the diamond. Although his exact role with the team is unclear, he will surely see some time at first base and in a pinch-hitter or DH situations.

It would be a bad idea not to get him some at-bats in 2022 after what he did over the weekend. With two weeks until Opening Day, the Rebels held an intrasquad scrimmage on Sunday and Malone went very, very yard.

During the sixth inning, Malone got ahold of a fastball and took it 378 feet.

It was a bomb.
