Florida Gators freshman Olivier Rioux is the world’s tallest teenager according to the Guinness Book of World Records. This week, he met another basketball giant.
The center linked up with Shaquille O’Neal with the duo providing their online followings with A+ entertainment in video form. The pair performed a brief skit that’s now gone viral on social media.

In the nine-second clip, Rioux towers over the 7-1 Shaq, dwarfing one of the largest humans in the United States. He has an entire head length over the NBA Hall of Famer.
Rioux stands 7-9 according to his Florida Gators bio. He is the tallest teen in the world, and he’s quickly become a fan favorite in Gainesville.
The center has yet to appear in a game this season, but his presence on the bench is always felt. He towers over his teammates, too!
While Olivier Rioux boasts undeniable size, the Gators have decided to ease him into his NCAA career. Head coach Todd Golden has opted to redshirt his massive freshman in the 2024-25 season.
“We look at him as a long-term investment, where if he continues to buy into our program and our coaches and our system that he will continue to develop into a player who can help us consistently. He’s not there yet and it might take him a while, but he’s definitely one of the most unique players in America.”

Rioux is trusting the process. He sees no reason to rush into action, though his ultimate plan is to play in the NBA. Cardio and endurance appear to be the biggest points of emphasis at this point, as opposed to his play on the court.
“They are emphasizing cardio, which isn’t the best for me right now. But we’re working out, working on things. We’re trying but need more.”

Olivier Rioux won’t see the floor this season in Gainesville, no matter how much fans call for his removal from the bench. Still, he continues to make waves. The side-by-side view of Rioux standing beside a much smaller Shaq gives insight into just how tall he is. He could be a problem for the Gators when he finally gets in the lineup.
