Oregon suffered its first loss of the college football season to Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Ducks pulled the most cowardly move on social media after the crushing defeat in Stillwater.
They have yet to post the final score.
Given the trajectory of the two programs over the last few years, the Cowboys’ win was one of the biggest upsets in recent college football history. Their opponent won’t even acknowledge the result!
Oregon suffered a historic college football loss to Oklahoma State.
To be honest, I don’t know if “historic” is the right word here. But I can’t think of one that would be better.
Unranked Oklahoma State added 91 (!!) new players through the transfer portal and hired a new head coach, and lost its first game of the season to Tulsa. No. 6-ranked Oregon entered the new season as national title contenders with a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate at quarterback and a roster that cost ~$40 million, and barely escaped with a win over a quality Boise State team in its first game of the season.
Most people chalked the Ducks’ struggles in Week 1 to the early-season jitters. The Broncos are also very good.
Therefore, Oregon entered Week 2 as 23.5-point favorites. The Cowboys lost this same game on the road in 2025 by 66 points, which was the first step toward Mike Gundy’s ouster. Nobody expected them to win on Saturday but they did!
Oklahoma State finished with 13 more first downs, 13 more minutes of possession, 24 more plays, five less penalties and — most importantly — more points. The Cowboys totaled more than 550 yards of offense in an eight-point win. Their fans stormed onto the field as soon as the clock hit zero. They tore down the goalposts and sank them in the Theta Pond.
Dan Lanning was 35-0 against unranked opponents before Saturday. He ultimately gave the game away with a boneheaded play call on 4th down during the 4th quarter. Oklahoma State became the first team in college football history to break a double-digit losing streak with a win over a top-10 opponent. The Cowboys shared the following graphic on social media in victory:
Their opponent has yet to do the same. You would not know they lost if you did not know they lost.
The Ducks did not post the final score on social media.
It is customary for both teams — win or lose — to post the final score on social media. That is not only true for college football. The unspoken rule also applies to MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, soccer, swimming, water polo, etc. I’m pretty sure Moses received “Thou must post the final score” as one of the Ten Commandments on top of Mount Sinai.
Oregon has not done so. @oregonfootball last posted on X at the beginning of the fourth quarter when Dante Moore connected with Evan Stewart for the go-ahead touchdown.
It has not posted since. No final score.

A final score graphic has not yet been posted to any Oregon social media account as of 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. That is the most cowardly move. The Ducks do not deserve to win again. Post the score!
