Remember back in 2024 when the Ryder Cup announced its ticket prices for the 2025 event at Bethpage Black on Long Island? Remember how so many golf fans were aghast at how astoundingly expensive they were?

Well, the 2027 Ryder Cup organizers want the 2025 event to hold their beer. Because the tournament organizers announced on Wednesday that tickets for the three match days at Adare Manor in Ireland will cost $585, which is more than twice the price of the 2023 European Ryder Cup in Rome. If you also want to attend on Thursday, that will be another $210, for a total of $795.

Naturally, the price hike is already being defended by the tournament organizers because, well, they had to know it would make people very angry.

“We acknowledge it’s an increase from Rome,” Richard Atkinson, the European Tour Group’s chief Ryder Cup officer, told BBC Sport NI.

“That was four years ago and a lot has happened in the world since then. We are lower than Bethpage. We’ve tried to make this as accessible as possible to a wide demographic of people. Our practice day tickets will be from 89 euros ($104) and juniors from 20 euros ($23).

“Our prices are proportionate to a global sporting event. This event has grown in stature and profile, it’s one of the biggest sporting events in the world. We’re confident in our pricing but we’ve made it accessible to everyone.”

While the ticket pricing certainly does NOT make the 2027 Ryder Cup “accessible to everyone,” they will have no trouble filling the stands.

“We’ve already had over a half a million people register their interest for tickets, so that tells you how significant the demand is,” added Atkinson.

Many golf fans are fed up with the increasingly expensive Ryder Cup ticket prices

This is ridiculous,” one fan wrote on X in response to the 2027 Ryder Cup ticket price announcement. “Doubled from Rome in 2023. It seems you’ve seen the sky high prices at Bethpage last year and seen it as a chance to capitalise which is a shame. Pricing out the core golf fans who help to make the atmosphere what it is.”

At these ticket prices you can shove it. Absolute rip off,” another angry golf fan commented.

Disgusting prices. Profiteering. Shame on the powers that be,” read another comment.

Scandalous. Absolutely scandalous,” someone else wrote. “The whole Ryder Cup brand is becoming a commercialised rip-off, and it breaks my heart given how much I used to love being there.”

Really really poor, how’s kids supposed to go see this at that price,” another fan commented. “I went in Paris and was only 130 euros or something. I was thinking of going this year with my young son and wife, but can’t afford that, such a rip off.”

But hey, as Atkinson also announced, “For the first time, there will also be an Official Ryder Cup campsite with entertainment.” So there’s that.
