Popular golf influencer Paige Spiranac visited the New York Stock Exchange and while there she took aim at critics of her golf attire, talked about the current state of golf, shared her thoughts on going to the US Open and what Coco Gauff had to say, and, of course, made some Ryder Cup predictions.

Naturally, Paige is picking the Americans.

“I think it’s going to be a really interesting Ryder Cup,” she told Sports Illustrated’s Robin Lundberg. “Both teams are deep great players going to be very competitive and I’m interested to see how it pans out but USA for sure who’s going to have to carry the load for the U.S.

“You know, it’s interesting because you want to say someone like a Scottie Scheffler, but he has been struggling with his putting and we know with match play that you do have to make a lot of putts.

“So I think someone like a Brian Harman, even though, he doesn’t have as much experience as some of the other players that are on the team, he’s a player that I wouldn’t want to go against. Someone like a Brian Harman or a Jordan Spieth, who are kind of maybe not as intimidating of players if you look at like a Scottie Scheffler or a Brooks Koepka, but they’re not the types of guys you want to play match play against because Jordan’s all over the place, always making up and down, making these crazy shots, and Brian Harman is always sticking it close with his wedges, making those putts, and that wears you down. So look out for them.”

Lundberg then asked Spiranac, “You’ve made some fashion statements on the golf course. What do you make of reaction to your attire?”

“You know, it’s really interesting,” Spiranac replied. “So I was a gymnast before I switched into golf and so I was so comfortable wearing Spandex and very little of it because that’s just what you wear when you’re wearing a leotard and you’re competing.

“And so when I switched into golf, we were struggling a little bit financially and so I didn’t have the luxury to go out and buy a whole new golf appropriate wardrobe. And so I wore what was in my closet which was workout clothes. And that’s just how I learned to play the game and I consider myself an athlete, I consider people who play golf, which is a hot take to some, athletes who play golf. Why don’t we dress like athletes? You know?”

Pretty sure it’s not the Spandex he is referring to when he says she makes “fashion statements.”

“They’re out there, poor Lucas Glover, in the unbreathable pants sweating like crazy and I’m like, ‘Let’s dress like athletes,’ and so that was always my mindset when I got into golf,” Paige continued to explain.

“And it really rubbed people the wrong way, which is shocking, shocking, but I mean they’ll have really intense discussions over if they should wear shorts or pants or a blade collar a real collar and I’m out here just in tank tops and Spandex and people are like, ‘What are you doing?’

“But I love it and I think we’re starting to see that change and fashion is such a big part of growing the game and it’s moving in the right direction.”

Paige also took credit for women going to the golf range in leggings and tank tops.

“So you’re welcome, to all the guys out there,” she said
