Paige Spiranac is back to doing what she does better than anybody else, making viral golf content on Instagram
The 30-year-old was a star on San Diego State’s women’s golf team in college, helping lead the Aztecs to their first ever Mountain West Conference championship.
But a pro career just wasn’t in the cards to for the soon-to-be “OG golf girl.”
“So many growing pains,” she said of the decision not to pursue a pro career on her Playing A Round With Paige podcast. “I was burnt out of, I wouldn’t say golf, just dedicating my life to something and not really seeing the results. With gymnastics, it was hard because I was fighting injuries and then with golf — golf is such an interesting sport because you can work out, eat right, practice and still not achieve your goals. That was something for me that I just couldn’t wrap my head around.
“It also went against everything that my parents ever told me because I come from two athletes. They always said, ‘If you put the work in and you dedicate your life to something, you will be successful.’ But that just wasn’t happening with golf and I was driving myself crazy because I felt like I should be achieving at a much higher level. … I had everything to be a world class golfer, but I just couldn’t put it together and I didn’t know why. It was driving me actually insane.”
But not going pro didn’t prevent Spiranac from becoming a household name. In fact, it’s just the opposite. The blonde bombshell is a social media superstar with nearly four million Instagram followers.
She went viral again on Thursday in a new video featuring her donning a white dress and asking followers what their favorite club is.
The post has over 100,000 likes in just one day and over 1,500 comments.
We’d say Spiranac made the right career choice.
