Pat McAfee is beginning to wear down sports fans to their last nerve
Vitriol against Pat McAfee continues to grow across the sports world, with an increasing number of ESPN watches seemingly getting tired of his apparent omnipresence on the network. One person took it too far by hoping he got “Kirked” live on-air.
On the Monday after Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season, divisive ESPN personality host Pat McAfee shared a screenshot of a reply from X account @HOFS0T0, which read: “if someone kirked him live during his show it would be a top 3 moment in the history of mankind.”

The comment was posted as a reaction to McAfee’s own tweet from earlier in the day, in which he wrote of the Colts’ performance against the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, “I enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts last night.. They looked a lot better than they did in week one.”
“Kirked” has emerged as slang for being killed, born out of the 2025 shooting of political commentator Charlie Kirk.

After McAfee quote-tweeted @HOFS0T0’s post, they predictably deleted it. The multimillionaire former punter, however, had a screenshot handy and shared it on social media, exposing the tweeter in front of his over 3.3 million followers.
ESPN has McAfee on the air every weekday from 12 to 3 p.m. EST hosting his eponymous radio show, on Saturday mornings as a co-host of College GameDay, as part of the Monday Night Countdown crew, and leading an alternative broadcast of Monday Night Football.
The only day of the week that McAfee isn’t on the air is Sundays, which is fine for ESPN, as most sports fans are watching the NFL on CBS/FOX/NBC on that day, anyway.
