Pat McAfee Goes OFF During Rant Against NFL Commentators, Says Some Guys Should Be ‘Covering High School Games’

Pat McAfee had aspirations of being an NFL broadcaster after his playing days ended. Instead, he launched a successful podcast.

McAfee will pop up once in a while as an analyst and does “College Gameday” stuff but he might not be invited back to any networks anytime soon after going scorched Earth on NFL commentators on a recent episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“We’ll talk about these commentators at some point today. I’m done with it. I’m done with it,” announced McAfee.

And then “some point” turned into “right now” and McAfee didn’t hold back.

“I’ve always been a super nice guy to these commentators, literally always have been because I understand how hard it is, I understand it’s not easy to travel, the traveling isn’t fun either.

And all these people have been hired over me, so if I were to say anything negative, I would naturally look like a hater.

I would like to let everyone know, I don’t want to be in the booth anymore. So they’re not taking my job and I’m not being a hater.

There are some commentators that f—king suck out there that should not be allowed to be covering the NFL.

Send them to high school games. There are some people that should not be allowed to speak over games and it is getting to the point where it’s embarrassing almost.

And I know it’s not an easy job at all. There’s a lot of things you have to remember, the ability to express your opinions in a fashion, you get it.”

McAfee made sure to point out he’s not referring to Aqib Talib, who made his FOX announcing debut over the weekend. “I don’t think we should judge [Talib], that was his first game, it’d be very rude to do so, so please do not put him in there,” explains McAfee.

After Talib a free pass, McAfee went all in again.

“But everybody here that knows, knows that watching a couple games yesterday, you listen to some of these f—king idiots talk, and you just get dumber while listening to the game and it makes no sense to me how they have jobs,” McAfee added.

McAfee seems to be talking about the Buccaneers game. At least that’s the graphic on the screen to start his rant. A quick check of the announce team during the game was Kevin Burkhardt and Daryl Johnston.

Burkhardt and Johnston are considered the #2 broadcast team behind Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Erin Andrews, and Mike Pereira.

The commenters on McAfee’s YouTube channel were quick to name names, even though the former Pro Bowl punter didn’t get specific.

“Chargers vs Raiders game
Mike Williams: *knocked out
Commentators: “Williams slow to get up” – Bruce Morrison

Commentor Schramer Hammer wrote, “‘They are kicking themselves in the foot’ -Jonathan Vilma”

“He’s talking about Greg Jennings. Absolutely AWFUL.” – Drop the Baseline

“Collinsworth: “he might be the best running back in football right now.”
Also Collinsworth one week later, about a completely different running back: “I can’t think of anyone who is playing better at his position right now.” The guy from last week Chris, what about the guy from last week?” – calibrazxr750

“This is ‘loosely’ about Vilma. He was cringe to watch at times. He kept talking about when he played and not the breakdowns. Vilma isn’t a bad guy but he NEEDS work.” – Gordy J

One more reason to watch games with the sound off.
