Rory McIlroy has been one of the most vocal critics of LIV Golf since the upstart league set out to take on the PGA Tour, and he’s had a well-documented beef with Patrick Reed and other golfers who opted to defect in exchange for a massive bag. However, he might not have a fiercer enemy than Pat Perez’s wife Ashley based on a comment she decided to share on Instagram.

McIlroy and Team Europe didn’t have much trouble fending off the Americans who headed to Rome for the Ryder Cup last week, as the United States struggled to find its footing at Marco Simone and had to deal with the world’s dumbest distraction courtesy of rumors concerning Patrick Cantaly’s decision to play without a hat.

However, the Europeans weren’t immune to some drama of their own, as McIlory appeared to engage in a war of words with Cantlay’s caddie Joe LaCava in a parking lot while Shane Lowry did what he could to try to keep the situation from escalating even further.

While the verbal altercation didn’t become a physical one, there was at least one person who wished that was the case, as Ashley Perez hopped into the comments of an Instagram video of the exchange to let the world know she would “absolutely love to watch Rory get punched in the face.”

While she was pretty out of pocket for that remark, it shouldn’t necessarily come as a huge shock given similar Hot Takes the woman who’s been married to Pat Perez since 2015 has shared in the past.

In 2022, she posted another Instagram comment where she stated Tiger Woods shouldn’t allowed to use a golf cart during competitions while implying the car accident that derailed his career the previous year was the result of him driving under the influence (while an empty pill bottle was discovered in a backpack in the vehicle, police determined he was simply driving too fast as opposed to repeating the mistake that led to him being charged with a DUI in 2017).

I can certainly understand why she feels the need to defend her husband’s honor at the expense of a vocal LIV Golf hater, but it’s hard to imagine he’s thrilled about the manner in which she decided to do exactly that.
