We’ve seen some fiery takes regarding Juwan Howard hitting Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft in the handshake line. While everyone seems to have an opinion on the matter, Patrick Ewing just delivered the hottest take of them all regarding the incident.

Instead of pointing the blame at Howard – the man that decided to hit another grown man across the face after his team lost – Ewing is blaming the handshake line in general.

The Georgetown head coach recently joined the Smith and Jones podcast to voice his hatred for the handshake line.

“I don’t like the handshake line, I don’t like it because anything is possible,” Ewing said.

“You’re just getting through a heated battle, a heated game and anything can happen to make things worse, which is what happened in that situation.

So, by Ewing’s logic, it’s alright that Howard swung at another coach because “anything can happen to make things worse” during a handshake line.

Patrick Ewing Wants To Get Rid Of The Handshake Line

If Ewing was the one calling the shots he’d get rid of the handshake line altogether.

He actually hates the handshake line so much that he’s blocked handshake lines from his memory. Ewing played four years at Georgetown and 17 years in the NBA, but claims they didn’t do handshake lines back in his day.

That’s completely false, of course.

“If it’s my call, I think we should just take away the handshake line,” Ewing explained. “Just do like we did last year in COVID. You wave bye and you move on.”

“When I played back then, I don’t even think they had handshake lines.”

Ewing may want to hold off on the hot takes seeing as how his Hoyas are 0-15 in the Big East this season.
