The NFL is experiencing some serious inflation when it comes to new contracts. Especially when it comes to the quarterback position.
It wasn’t that long ago when Patrick Mahomes signed the biggest contract in league history. But now, he’s being surpassed by his peers.
First, Jalen Hurts signed a massive deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. After that, Lamar Jackson quickly followed.
Additionally, both Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert are in line for big contracts too. Both of which are estimated to be higher than the deal Lamar Jackson signed.
So, somebody asked Patrick Mahomes how he feels about these contracts paying out more money than his own. A valid question considering he’s the best quarterback in the league right now.
However, the Kansas City Chiefs superstar isn’t fazed by his peers securing the bag. Instead, he’s more focused on winning more Super Bowls.
Here’s what he had to say during a press conference at the Chiefs’ OTAs.
#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was asked about his contract and how so many other QBs have passed him:
"I worry about legacy and winning rings more than money at this moment."
"I've made enough money where I'll be set for the rest of my life."

Considering Mahomes signed a deal giving him roughly half of $1 billion, money certainly isn’t an issue.
The Chiefs are in line to be a great team as long as he’s under center. Additionally, this is the type of answer the organization, and the fanbase, love to hear.
Also, it’s not like Patrick Mahomes even needs a new contract. He’s barely a year into his 10-year deal with Kansas City. So, there should be no rush into renegotiating that deal.
At the end of the day though, it’s cool to see that Patrick Mahomes is completely unphased by not being the highest paid quarterback in the NFL anymore (from a yearly standpoint).
With that said, look for the Chiefs to remain focused on themselves, as they’re aiming to win back-to-back Super Bowls.
