They say that game recognizes game, so it should perhaps come as no surprise that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been full of praise for Eagles signal-caller Jalen Hurts following Super Bowl LVII.

Speaking to reporters following the game, Mahomes made sure to highlight just how excellent his Philly counterpart played in the biggest game of his life.

“If there were any doubters left there shouldn’t be now. The way he stepped on this stage, and ran, threw the ball, whatever it took for his team to win. I mean, that was a special performance,” Mahomes said of Hurts

“I don’t want it to get lost in the loss that they had. I mean, even whenever we got all the momentum in that game, and we went up eight points in the fourth quarter, for him to respond and move his team down the football field and run in himself in a two-point conversion, it was a special performance by him and I mean, you make sure you appreciate that when you look back on this game.”

In Super Bowl LVII, both Mahomes and Hurts put forth MVP performances, with Mahomes only taking home the prize because he was on the winning team.

Mahomes, who was ultimately named MVP, completed 21 of 27 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns, while Hurts completed 27 of 38 passes for 304 yards and a touchdown. Hurts also rushed for three more touchdowns and 70 yards, which is a Super Bowl record for a QB.

Luckily for fans of the NFL, we won’t have to wait long to see Mahomes and Hurts play again as the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs are set to host the Eagles at Arrowhead next season.
