Throughout the NFL offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs have been repeatedly linked to available wide receivers.

The team is a bit thin on established options at the position after Juju Smith-Schuster left in free agency to join the Patriots.

They had reportedly been interested in Odell Beckham Jr before he signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

They are still believed to be one of the teams that could try to land DeAndre Hopkins in a trade.

Now it appears that they may be considering a much younger option at the position.

According to Adam Schefter, Patrick Mahomes worked out with top wide receiver prospect Zay Flowers at hthe request of the Chiefs.

The Chiefs don’t have a selection in the first round of the NFL draft until pick 31, which could make it difficult for them to land Flowers.

Flowers is one of the top receivers in this year’s draft and there was a even a report at one point that he could potentially be the first one off the board.

There are a few teams the Chiefs could have to compete with to land Flowers, which could mean they’d need to trade up to land him.

There is also the issue of his fit with the team. Flowers profiles as a slot receiver, but the Chiefs already spent a 2nd round pick on Skyy Moore a year ago and traded for Kadarius Toney. That’s already a lot of potential in the slot.

The Chiefs should definitely be considering a receiver with their first pick in the draft to give Patrick Mahomes more to work with at the position, but Zay Flowers just might not be the right one for them.
