Veteran Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson had some interesting words to say about the Ravens’ up-and-coming receiver, Zay Flowers.

It seems Peterson’s newfound rivalry with Baltimore has him giving Flowers some mixed compliments.

Peterson said, “It’s going to be fun trying to keep our eye on that fast, little munchkin there,” according ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.

But despite the “little munchkin” nickname, which sounds insulting, Peterson did give credit where it’s due.

He went on to explain why covering the Ravens’ diminutive rookie is no walk in the park, saying, “He’s very shifty, very, very fast. He can get behind the defense. He’s kind of like the guy that can do it all for him, run the screens, run the reverses, and still also run the big post as well.”

Zay Flowers, listed at 5’10 and 172 pounds, has indeed made a splash in his first four games with the Ravens, who are currently 3-1

Flowers caught 24 passes for 244 yards, leading the team in both catches and receiving yards. It seems like Flowers is exactly the kind of dynamic playmaker that the Ravens have been longing for.

Patrick Peterson’s remarks do sound like he’s teasing the rookie, they also acknowledge that Flowers has been making a real impact with his shiftiness.

The Steelers-Ravens rivalry just got a bit more interesting, and we’ll have to see how this matchup unfolds on the field.
