Patrick Reed is in a hospital in the Houston area battling bilateral pneumonia, according to a statement Reed shared with Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis.
“I’ve been in the hospital with bilateral pneumonia. I’m on the road to recovery and once I’m cleared from the doctors, I look forward to returning. I wish you all the best and I can’t wait to get out there,” part of the statement read.
.@PReedGolf has been in a Houston area hospital since Friday morning after being diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. Reed is improving and hopes to be released soon. Reed withdrew from the Northern Trust during Thursday’s opening round last week citing an ankle injury. He also pulled out of the Wyndham Championship the week before the Northern Trust and will not be teeing it up this week at the BMW Championship in Maryland.
Reed missing the second playoff event is huge as this could mean that he missed out on the Tour Championship in Atlanta in what will be the final event of the season. Not teeing it up in the BMW Championship also means that Reed will not have a chance to automatically qualify to make the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
The Top 6 players automatically get a spot, but Reed currently sits in ninth. He’ll have to rely on a captain’s pick, which his health status could also play a role in that as well.
While some people on Twitter wished Reed the best in his recovery, others put on their Twitter doctor caps and immediately jumped to the conclusion that he’s actually in the hospital with COVID-19 and just assume he’s not vaccinated.
How to say you have Covid without saying you have Covid.

Guess he should’ve got the covid vaccine.

Did he actually have an ankle injury? Or did he just use that to cover a Covid diagnosis?

I’ll take “I have covid and don’t want to admit I’m not vaxxed” for $500 Alex.
