FOX’s Henry McKenna provided additional insights, citing a team source who expressed concerns about Corral’s departure.
The source stated, “He just left the team,” adding, “Let’s just make sure he’s OK. I don’t know if it’s mental health. I just know he kind of flaked out. … Let’s be careful this guy doesn’t get thrown to the wolves.”
In response to the unexpected situation, the Patriots have taken action by signing Bailey Zappe off the practice squad and elevating him to the active roster.
Zappe will assume the role of backup to starting quarterback Mac Jones, as the team navigates through this unexpected situation in their quarterback lineup.
Corral was a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Panthers out of Ole Miss, after amassing over 8,200 passing yards, 57 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions in college.
