J.J. Worton, Patriots Practice Team Member, Accused Of Groping Two Women And Knocking Out Some Dude At Bar

Prior to his team losing in yesterday’s AFC title game, New England Patriots practice team player J.J. Worton was being arrested on Saturday night in Foxborough for, allegedly, groping two women and knocking out a man during a bar altercation in the early morning hours.

According to WCVB, police responded to a call at 1 a.m. to a report of an assault at Waxy O’Connors Irish Pub on 121 Main Street. Worton had already ditched the scene, though, with cops catching up to him, pulling him over and questioning him about the assault.

Here’s what the rest of the WCVB report detailed:

Witnesses told police that a light-skinned man wearing a dark-colored hoodie punched a man in the face after witnesses say the man brushed against the victim’s girlfriend. Another woman reported being touched inappropriately and witnesses said the man fled in a gray sedan on Chestnut Street.

Police located the sedan and found Jimmy “JJ” Worton in the back seat. Worton told police he accidentally brushed the woman when leaving the bar. When the victim’s boyfriend confronted him, Worton said he tried to run away, but was forced to defend himself by punching him in the face, which knocked the other man unconscious.

The two women identified Worton was the man who touched them inappropriately and police arrested Worton.

Worton, who was a rookie wide receiver from the UCF and just signed to New England’s practice squad on Jan. 12, was charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery and one count of assault and battery.

While Worton was technically a member of the Pats yesterday—though he obviously didn’t even make the trip to Denver—according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, his contract expired as part of being on the practice squad once the team lost in the AFC title game.

This isn’t the first time Worton has been arrested, as the former UCF Knight got cuffed in 2012 after he swung at a deputy with a fist in an attempt to punch him during a St. Patrick’s Day party.
