Newly hired Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo is rubbing some people the wrong way over his comments about racism.

At his introductory press conference this week, Mayo, the first black head coach in Patriots history, told the media that he does “see color” and it helps him deal with racism in everyday scenarios.

“I do see color because I believe if you don’t see color, you can’t see racism,” Mayo said. “Whatever happens, Black, White, disabled person, I’ve always, you know for the most part people are all like ‘don’t.’ When they’re young they kind of make the spot hot. What I would say is ‘no, I want you to be able to go up to those people and really understand those people”

“It goes back to whatever it is, Black, White, yellow, it really doesn’t matter, but it does matter so we can try to fix the problem that we all know we have.”

Mayo’s comments sparked outrage on Fox News, who have been bashing him as the “new woke coach” on several of their shows.
