Every now and then the stars (and TV cameras) align just right and someone who was unknown to most of America suddenly becomes an internet sensation.

It happened to Katherine Webb during the broadcast of the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.

And it happened again this past Saturday during the broadcast of the College Football Playoff semifinal between Ohio State and Georgia.

No, Brent Musburger wasn’t on the call this time.

Instead, a Xavier University student and lacrosse player named Catherine Gurd (really? Catherine? again?) went viral when a clip of her at the game went wild on TikTok.

On Saturday, all that was known about her is that she was in the stands for the game after someone on TikTok made a video about her that went viral with the caption, “someone find me this girl from Ohio State for the love of God.”

From there, the legend of the “Peach Bowl Girl” was born.

Later that day, a friend of Catherine Gurd tagged the original video and boom! Her internet fame was officially launched.

Not too long after that, Gurd, whose older brother is a tight end for the Buckeyes, shared her own TikTok video in response to becoming internet famous.

On Thursday, taking advantage of her newfound fame, Gurd showed up in an interview with Inside Edition.

“I was distraught at that moment,” Gurd revealed. “I was just praying and, like, hoping that we would make the kick and I would be able to go to, like, the team would go to the national championship.”

She was then asked if she thought she might get a date thanks to all of this newfound exposure.

“I don’t know, maybe,” she said with a knowing laugh.

Pretty sure that won’t be a problem for the newly christened “Peach Bowl Girl”… if it ever was to begin with.
