Mason Martin’s father shared a positive news update about his son’s health, via WTAE.
“There wasn’t much hope. I put out in a Facebook post that we need a miracle. We needed one and people went to work. And within the last 24 hours, he showed improvement that he hasn’t shown before any of these vigils took place,”

An unfortunate incident unfolded on a Friday night as a high school football game between Karns City and Redbank Valley was suspended when quarterback Mason Martin collapsed on the field.
The young athlete was promptly rushed to the hospital by helicopter, according to Fox News.
The incident occurred during the third quarter of the intense matchup in Butler County, Pennsylvania. As Mason Martin took the field, he began to exhibit signs of distress, causing referee Mike Vasbiner to take notice.
Vasbiner recounted the moment, stating, “I had to talk to him, and when I asked if he was alright, he told me, ‘No.’ So, that’s when I knew something was wrong.”
Moments later, Mason Martin collapsed. An immediate response team was called, and the young quarterback was airlifted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
As a result of the incident, the game was called off.
The severity of Mason Martin’s condition came to light when his family shared the heartbreaking news with KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh.
According to his family, the high school quarterback suffered a “significant brain bleed as well as a collapsed lung,” leaving him in critical condition.
Desperate for positive outcomes, Mason’s mother took to social media with a heartfelt plea: “We need a miracle.”
In her message, she elaborated on her son’s condition, stating, “Mason remains in critical condition with little change over the last 36 hours. The truth is we need a miracle. I’m not saying that to sound grim, but to let you know that we need the strength of your prayers.”
