Pete Crow-Armstrong Delivers Hilarious Interview After Freaking Out Over Egregious Missed Balk

Pete Crow-Armstrong was unhappy with a missed balk.


Pete Crow-Armstrong freaked out on umpires during a game between the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks due to a missed balk in the sixth inning. The infraction was egregious. It also robbed the Cubs of a run.

The outfielder was fuming in real time, leading to a heated interaction with the officiating crew. His frustrations carried over into the postgame, where he delivered a truly hilarious response.

Crow-Armstrong was on third base in the frame with his team having been held scoreless. He doubled to start the inning. He then advanced a bag on a Seiya Suzuki groundout.

On a 2-1 pitch, Arizona starter Eduardo Rodriguez balked after beginning his windup. It went uncalled, forcing Crow-Armstrong to stay at third base. The Diamondbacks would later get out of the inning unscathed.

Crow-Armstrong erupted on umpires in the heat of the moment. His pleas did not impact the ruling.

The outfielder and MVP candidate was asked about his reaction after the game. He opened up on his frustrations while delivering a hilarious interview.

“I saw four umpires miss a pretty obvious play,” he said. “Their one job is to get calls right. If they get it wrong, they’re supposed to talk about it and get it right. They didn’t…

“When a guy is shoving it down your throat… pause… you’ve got to find any way you can to make something happen, and that’s exactly what I was trying to do. I executed, and it would’ve been nice if the umpires did the same.”

Chicago would lose the game, 2-0. The violation should’ve given the Cubs a 1-0 lead. It changed that momentum.

Pete Crow-Armstrong was, justifiably, upset with the balk no-call. His frustrations, at least, provided viewers with a laugh after a fifth loss in seven games.
