Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, who certainly knows a thing or two about successfully switching NFL teams in the twilight years of one’s career, has weighed in on the new marriage between the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers.

After spending the entirety of his 17-year NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers now finds himself in the Big Apple as a member of the New York Jets.

Manning made a similar move late in his career, as he played the final four seasons of his storied career with the Denver Broncos. During his four years in the Mile High City, Manning only added to his legacy as he set the NFL record for touchdown passes in a single season (55) while also adding another MVP award and Super Bowl title to his trophy case.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show (from his car) earlier this week, Manning said that he’s excited for Rodgers and stated the continuity of his offensive system despite the team change is a huge help.

“Let me tell you why I think it’s going to work. The fact that he has the same system that he ran in Green Bay… he’s going to be able to play so much faster. I mean, Pat, having to learn a new offense in your 18th, 19th year, it’s almost impossible because you have to unlearn your old offense,” Manning said.

Manning certainly isn’t alone in his faith in the New York Jets as the bookmakers in Las Vegas also agree, as Gang Green currently has the seventh-best betting odds to win next season’s Super Bowl, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, and Dallas Cowboys.

Rodgers will certainly be hoping his tenure with the Jets is as successful as Manning’s with the Broncos as a second Super Bowl ring would go a long way in legitimizing his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
