With less than two weeks left before invitees arrive at Augusta National GC for the 2024 Masters, three-time champion Phil Mickelson announced he’s making a major switch to his game.

On Tuesday, Mickelson announced his brother is retiring after being his faithful caddie for the past 8 years which of course includes Phil’s 2021 PGA Championship title.

In a press release, LIV Golf announced that Tim Mickelson is retiring to spend more time with his family. On X, Phil Mickelson wrote “I’ve had some great accomplishments in my career and getting to share them with my brother Tim has been beyond special. I’m very lucky to have had him on the bag for me the past eight years and as my brother for life.

Lefty added “So much has changed since he was single and we started working together. He’s found his life partner, Maranda, they’ve had their second son, and hopefully their family will continue to grow. While Tim is retiring from caddying, I’ll always cherish the many great moments we’ve shared on the course and I look forward to many more special moments off the course too.

On X, many of Phil’s followers congratulated Tim Mickelson on his caddie retirement. One person wrote “One of the best of all time. Enjoy the time off @goodwalkspoiled! Much deserved!”

Another person chimed in with “Great for Tim. Got the experience of a lifetime, having children, oh and that Major in 2021 has to be pretty cool too!”

Of course, there were people in Phil Mickelson’s mentions offering up their caddie services ahead of Augusta National where Phil last won in 2010. Phil hasn’t said yet who his caddie will be for The Masters but he worked with Jim (Bones) Mackay up until 2017 when his brother took over. He’ll have a plethora of options ahead of Augusta.
