Anything that can go wrong, is going wrong for the Philadelphia Eagles these days.

Philadelphia began the 2023 NFL season with a 10-1 record. But the Birds went just 1-5 down the stretch to finish with an 11-6 record and lose the NFC East to the Dallas Cowboys.

Now, as they prepare to head to Tampa Bay for an NFC Wild Card game, the Eagles will have to do so without the services of star with receiver AJ Brown.

Brown, who has recently shown his dissatisfaction with the team on the several occasions, injured his right knee in Philadelphia’s Week 18 loss to the New York Giants.

The Eagles initially showed optimism that he would not miss any time in the playoffs. Especially after he was seen without a brace or crutches following the game.

But that was not the case.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Pro Bowl wideout will not be available against the Buccaneers.

Eagles’ WR A.J. Brown, who worked hard in his rehab to try to make it back this week, is out for Monday night’s wild-card matchup vs. the Bucs due to his sprained knee, per sources,” Schefter tweeted. “Brown has made enough progress that, if the Eagles advance, he could return for the divisional playoff. But he’s out Monday night.”

Brown led the team in both receptions (106) and yards (1,456) this season. He was tied with fellow star wideout DeVonta Smith with seven touchdown receptions.

Smith, like Brown, enters the playoffs with injury concerns after suffering a mild ankle sprain against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17.

Maybe Philadelphia is able to overcome the injury to Brown. But it’ll need to flip the script in a big way in order to do so.

The Eagles’ lone win in the last month-and-a-half came in a 33-25 victory over the Giants on Christmas Day.
