Phoenix Suns Taking Unexpected Meeting With NBA Star

Over the last 5 months, the Phoenix Suns front office has been doing everything they can to bring the organization their first ever ring.

It started with the blockbuster trade for Kevin Durant back in February that saw them give up Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, and 4 first round picks for star forward.

They haven’t slowed down during this NBA offseason.

The organization made the first big trade of the summer when they traded Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, and a bunch of 2nd rounders and pick swaps for Bradley Beal.

That move has left them without much cap space as they already had Durant, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton all on big contracts before adding Beal’s $50 million per year.

However, it seems that may not deter them from trying to pursue another star for their roster.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, the Suns are going to meet with Kyrie Irving when free agency officially begins tomorrow.

It’s hard to see how the Suns acquiring Kyrie could make sense from a financial perspective, but it would likely have to involve a sign-and-trade that sends Ayton to the Mavs.

It also isn’t entirely clear how this would work on the court, with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker being 2 of the NBA’s best scorers and the team already now needing to find shots for Beal. Adding in a scoring point guard doesn’t exactly seem like the best fit.

However, this report does align with the report that Kyrie Irving badly wants a ring and that will impact his free agency decision.

While Kyrie joining the Phoenix Suns seems very unlikely, it’s clear the franchise is still looking at all of their options to put together a winner for the 2023-24 season.
