The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New Orleans Saints in Paris, France over the weekend. They arrived wearing traditional English attire.
Ahead of Sunday’s Week 7 matchup with the New Orleans Saints at Stade de France, the Pittsburgh Steelers posted photos of their quarterback room dressed like the Shelby family — coordinated suits, ties, and flat caps — from the hit Netflix series The Peaky Blinders.
The Pittsburgh Steelers dressed as the Peaky Blinders — a gang from England — for the team’s game in Paris, France
“By order of the Peaky Blinders,” the caption on the photo of Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, Drew Allar and quarterbacks coach Tom Arth read.
@steelers @NFL Ah yes the famously French peaky blinders

“It’s like showing up at a game in Dallas dressed like the Canadian Mounted Police,” one of the top replies to the post reads.
“This is like if a European soccer team went to Pittsburgh and posted about cheesesteaks,” a second viral tweet joked.

While Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby and his brothers fought in France during World War I, it would certainly be odd for an NFL franchise to evoke WWI while trying to globalize the sport of football.
Steven Knight’s BBC series — which was broadcast in the United States by Netflix — follows the Shelby crime family in post-World War I Birmingham and ran six seasons from 2013 to 2022. A follow-up film, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, hit Netflix in March. The Peaky Blinders were a real gang that was active from the 1880s into the 1920s, reportedly named for their flat caps.
The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New Orleans Saints 16-10 in the NFL’s first regular-season game in France to improve to 5-2, putting them atop the AFC North alongside the Cleveland Browns. Rodgers, in his final season in the NFL, continued his strong start to the year as he threw for 212 yards and a touchdown in the win.
