Tredyffrin Township Police in Pennsylvania are looking for two individuals and a white SUV following a break-in at Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s home in Malvern over the weekend.
The home invasion occurred at around 5 a.m. Saturday morning. According to authorities, one suspect entered the house while Saquon Barkley and his family were there, but he took nothing and no one was hurt.
When Township police arrived at the scene of a burglary report at Barkley’s home, the suspects had already fled the property. Officers believe a white GMC Yukon SUV was used in the attempted home invasion, but they don’t believe it was the only vehicle involved.
“We know there’s more than one, but we’re still trying to determine how many were involved,” said Capt. Tyler Moyer of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department. “All of the occupants in the home were physically okay, obviously a little unsettled as anybody would be, but nobody was harmed.”
Additionally, the Tredyffrin Township Police Department stated that it was collaborating with federal and local law enforcement agencies to investigate potential connections between the crime and other break-ins targeting professional athletes nationwide.
“We will look at all angles of this because we know, obviously, it’s been all over the news in the past few years about different professional athletes’ homes getting burglarized,” Moyer said.
Numerous pro athletes have seen their homes burglarized over the past several years
Last year, several alleged members of a South American Theft Group were arrested for burglarizing the homes of professional athletes and two owners of a pawn shop were charged with allegedly running a fencing operation and selling the athletes’ stolen items.
Those arrests didn’t stop burglars from breaking into more professional athletes’ homes. In December, WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu and former NFL lineman Hroniss Grasu had their Los Angeles home broken into and burglarized. Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Ketel Marte also had their homes burglarized in 2025.
The string of home burglaries has gotten so bad that in December 2024 that the FBI issued an official warning to American pro athletes about “organized theft groups” from South America targeting their homes for burglaries. It is possible that the theft group is up and running again. Usually, they strike when the athlete is on the road. Spain star Lamine Yamal’s home was targeted just hours after his World Cup semifinal match earlier this month.
In an attempt to identify the suspects, investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby residences and security cameras at Barkley’s property.
“We are incredibly grateful that the Barkley family was not injured during this incident,” the Chester County District Attorney wrote in a statement. “We are asking the public to help us identify those responsible by checking any home security cameras for suspicious activity in the area around 5:00 a.m. If you saw anything unusual or have video that may assist investigators, please contact the Tredyffrin Township Police Department immediately.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Chester County Detectives are assisting the Tredyffrin Township Police Department as the investigation continues.”
