The Pop-Tarts Bowl question everyone is asking has finally been answered – What flavor will the edible mascot be?

Fans received the news a day before kickoff with NC State and Kansas State getting ready to face off.

The college football world was shocked by the original announcement that an edible mascot would be eaten in celebration after the Pop-Tarts Bowl.

The winning team’s coach will devour the snack in the postgame festivities, hopefully starting another incredible bowl game tradition.

NC State head coach Dave Doeren is excited about his opportunity to feast, though he suggested a shot of bourbon be made available to wash it down.

Doeren also dished on his favorite flavor of Pop-Tarts, brown sugar, in hopes the bowl would take his preference into consideration. The same is true for Kansas State’s Chris Klieman.

They did not, according to recent speculation.

Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot flavor revealed

The Pop-Tarts mascot flavor is expected to be strawberry.

A staple in snacking, strawberry is maybe the most recognized flavor in the Pop-Tarts world. It was surely a difficult decision, however, as brown sugar, blueberry, and wild berry had to be in that conversation, too.

There’s no wrong choice, here, though many were hoping for two options (one purple, one red) as a way to represent both teams and fanbases.

Viewers are filled with anticipation, waiting to see how the postgame scene unfolds. It will be here soon enough!

NC State and Kansas State match up Thursday evening at 5:45 PM ET. They’ll be sure to bring their appetites!
