Dave Doeren has agreed to take a bite out of the Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot should the Wolfpack win their postseason matchup against Kansas State.

There was one condition to those terms, however. The head coach needs a drink to chase it down!

And he’s not talking about a glass of milk.

That probably shouldn’t come as a shock considering this is the same coach that once offered to chug beer on the field with fans as a way to keep them from leaving games early.

The Wolfpack and Wildcats will face off for bragging rights this December in Orlando. Like many other games we see around the country, the Pop-Tarts Bowl comes with a fun twist.

Similar to the Duke’s Mayo bath or Cheez-Itz “Flexin’ Section”, Pop-Tarts has unveiled its own unique gimmick to keep players, fans, and coaches involved.

At the end of the game, the winning team will literally eat the mascot.

With NC State participating, head coach Dave Doeren was asked if he’d be taking part in the postgame festivities should the Wolfpack win.

He was hesitant at first but offered a compromise.

“Man, I guess I would have to, wouldn’t I?” Doeren said when asked about taking a bite of the Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot.

“I’m not going to be the guy that doesn’t do that. What flavor is it going to be?… Can I chase it down with a nice bourbon afterwards? Is that part of the Pop-Tarts experience?”

If Doeren gets his way, that mascot will be brown sugar, his favorite flavor of the delicious treat.

A bowl win would be the icing on the cake for NC State, who rides a five-game winning streak into the postseason. They’ll match up with a Kansas State team that’s 8-4.

The opening line lists the Wolfpack as 3.5-point underdogs. We’ll see if they pull the upset.
