After a torrid start that saw us kick off the new season at 6-2, we cooled off last weekend, pushing at 1-1 (we hit on Man Utd but lost on the Leeds/Sheffield over). Still, our record through three matchweeks is 7-3 thus far and that’s certainly nothing to be sneezed at, so let’s get back to the grind and cash in with another winning weekend.

Leeds vs. Manchester City OVER 3.5 Goals – Saturday, 10/3, 12:30 p.m. EST

A week after getting scorned by betting on the Leeds United over, we’re right back where we started, as I expect their matchup against Manchester City to be a goal-fest.

Despite spending somewhere in the neighborhood of half-a-billion dollars on defenders during his time at Manchester City, the fact is that Pep Guardiola — who is likely in his last year at Man City — doesn’t know how to coach defense to the level City need to be at to compete for the title. It’s what undid them last year and it looks to be their Achilles heel once again.

As for Leeds, while they were able to keep a clean sheet against Sheffield United, I see that as more of an aberration than a sign of turning tides, as the team they kept goalless, Sheffield United, possess arguably the league’s least potent offense.

With two sides who love to attack and essentially loathe defending, it’s hard to see any outcome other than this matchup being a barnburner.

Liverpool -1.5 vs. Aston Villa – Sunday, October 4, 2:15 p.m. EST
Luckily for Aston Villa fans, their team is far better than it was last season, which means they should hopefully be able to avoid a relegation scrap this year. Still, despite their improvements, they’re so far behind the likes of Liverpool that the two teams basically aren’t even playing the same sport.

After opening the season as underdogs to Manchester City, bookies have since flipped the odds, as Liverpool are now the favorites to retain their Premier League title after showing their back to their relentless best during the season’s first three matchweeks that saw the Reds dispatch the likes of Leeds, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

With the form their showing, it’s tough to imagine anyone hanging with Jurgen Klopp’s men these days, let alone Aston Villa. Take Liverpool on the spread and don’t look back.
